Every system we build starts as a business question: where would AI change how this operation runs, and is it worth building? You answer that question with the client, and then you stay to make sure the answer holds once the system is live.
You own the business side of a client workstream. You sit with finance and operations teams, find where the work really gets stuck, decide with them what should be built and why, and lead the change in how people work once it runs. A senior forward deployed engineer owns the architecture and delivery beside you, and a principal engagement lead owns the client relationship with you.
The role is remote within Europe, with client visits when the work needs a room: a discovery week, a go-live, a review with the executive team. In one week you might hear a CFO's priorities, watch an accounts payable team clear exceptions, and settle a trade-off with an engineer. If you prefer slides to the shop floor, this is not the right seat.
What you will do
- Run discovery with client teams: observe the process, measure where time and errors go, and rank the opportunities by value and by how easily the result can be checked
- Turn an unclear business problem into requirements, priorities and acceptance cases an engineer can build against
- Write the baseline and the business case before anything is built, so the result can be measured honestly afterwards
- Lead adoption: prepare the people whose work changes, set the review points, and fix the process around the system, not only the system
- Report results to the client's executives in their terms: capacity, response time, error rates and cost
- Turn what you learn into the methods we use to scope and run the next engagement
What we look for
- 12+ years in management consulting, operations, strategy and operations or product, including work where you owned the outcome and not only the recommendation
- A record of changing how an operation runs, with the before and after to show for it
- Hands-on AI experience can be recent. We value what you have actually built and run with AI over a long AI title, and skills from consulting, operations or product transfer well
- Process mapping and measurement: you find the gap between the documented process and the real one, and you put a number on it
- Enough technical fluency to work with engineers as a peer: you know what a model can and cannot do, and when a plain rule is better
- You use AI tools in your own daily work, and you have built at least one workflow or tool with them
- Clear written and spoken English, and the confidence to hold a room of senior executives
Nice to have
- German or Dutch, for clients in those markets
- Depth in a finance or operations process: order to cash, procure to pay, the close, supply chain or service operations
- Business-side experience with an ERP such as SAP, Dynamics, Oracle or NetSuite
Your first six months
- Month 1: join a live engagement and lead one workstream of its Workflow Assessment, from the interviews to the findings
- Month 3: own a client workstream end to end, from discovery to the acceptance cases the engineers build against, and the executive conversations around it
- Month 6: a system you scoped runs in production, its results are measured against the baseline you set, and the client's team runs it
